    Paramraj Singh Umranangal is a senior IPS officer who belongs to a prominent political family in Punjab. His family was at the forefront of the effort to maintain national unity during the dark days of militancy in Punjab. His grandfather, Sardar Jiwan Singh Umranangal, though himself a former Akali legislator and minister, was one of the few courageous voices of the time who openly condemned the militant takeover of the Golden Temple by Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his armed followers and their anti-national activities.

    IGP Umranangal 2015 Kotkapura Police Firing Case

    1977-1979

    The 2015 Guru Granth Sahib desecration which is also known as the 2015 Guru Granth Sahib sacrilege, refers to a series of similar incidents of the Sikh Guru Guru Granth Sahib leads to subsequent protests that took place in Punjab, India in October 2015. The result of that sacrilege incident turns into 2015 Kotkapura Police Firing, which is unfortunately also known as IGP Umranangal 2015 Kotkapura Police Firing Case . This is one of the biggest incident & Controversy which has affected public life and Punjab administration.

    1973-1977

    Over 110 pages of Guru Granth Sahib were found scattered in a Gurdwara near Bargari, owing to which both Bargari and Kotkapura towns witnessed communal tension.

    The locals of Bargari town spotted the pages of Guru Granth Sahib when they visited the Gurdwara to offer morning prayers. Protesting against this sacrilegious act, the locals of Bargari witnessed complete bandh,and nearby villages also joined when they came to know about the wrongdoing.
